If you’re competitive and have that desire to win in business, I guarantee you’ll love this quick read.

It may give you the guidance and motivation boost to continue pushing yourself forward, especially at times when you’re not feeling like it.

You’ll especially need it if you’re going through a rough patch of late and need to find a new formula quickly to get back on your feet.

So, let’s not waste any more time and get this thing off the ground.

Innovate Around ‘Seemingly-Standard’ Features

Now, before you start making excuses for yourself, let me comfort you: innovation doesn’t mean you have to sit down and come up with an idea for a groundbreaking product today or this week.

Rather, the opposite. You can start by innovating around seemingly standard features or flaws at your own pace.

Well, let me give you an example, product delivery.

If we know one thing about customers, it is that if we don’t get a product to them quickly enough they will show impatience, and then they’ll just leave.

You could either look at it as ’’it’s-just-how-things-work’’ or… look at it as a problem that needs solving.

To fix it, you have to roll up your sleeves and put in place a process that delivers products faster and more reliably than before.

This, my friend, is just one of the many problems looking for solutions.

Innovate around seemingly standard features or flaws at your own pace.

Look After Your Customers

If you look at the companies that have made a name for themselves, you’ll notice that they put customers first. Not themselves or their individual interests.

That’s because customers are what makes their business work. Without customers, there is no company!

So, where am I going with this?

Let’s just say I’m trying to plant a very important seed of ‘business truth’ in your head. I want you to look at your business from a different point of view, your customers.

Everything you say or do as a company should bring benefit to customers, starting with simple things like product descriptions, packaging, and manuals to bundle deals and discounts throughout the year.

Successful companies put customers first.

Know Your Customers Inside and Out

Do you really know your customers? Who they are, where they come from, and what has made them turn to you for their product needs?

You’ve got to know the answers to these questions. The more you know about your customers, the more successful your business will be.

Not only will this help you refine your existing products but may also spark new ideas for products you could be creating in the future.

This is key to outworking your competition and bringing a greater share of customers through the door.

The key to outworking your competition is knowing your customers.

Final Thoughts

With all that said, I hope these points give you enough momentum to start putting in place fundamental changes in all areas of your business.

Keep in mind, though, there is no surefire way of predicting what’s going to be ‘’that thing’’ that will bring you the change you’re looking for.

It’s all about taking risks, trying new things, and seeing what sticks. And so I encourage you to do just that!
